Bill is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is a frequent author and speaker, including a contributing author to the Personal Torts section of the Annual Survey of Texas Law for the SMU Law Review for a number of years. He is a member of Leader's Forum for the American Association of Justice, and serves as the Vice-Chair for the Sections and Litigation Group Coordinating Committee for AAJ. He also serves as a Trustee for the National College of Advocacy.

He is a Fellowship Member and sits on the Board of Directors for the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and the Dallas Trial Lawyers Association. He has earned a membership in the College of the State Bar of Texas, is an invited member to the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, and has been repeatedly named by Texas Monthly as a Texas Super Lawyer, most recently in 2009. Bill's practice includes catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases of all types, with emphasis on pharmaceutical cases, insurance bad faith and medical negligence cases.

Bill was born in Fargo, North Dakota, and did his undergraduate work both at North Dakota State University and at Moorhead State University in Minnesota. He completed his under-graduate degree magna cum laude, then moved to Texas; he took his law degree from Baylor University School of Law, and began practicing as a defense lawyer for one of the 25 largest law firms in the state of Texas. After a number of years of defense work, Bill switched sides, and began working exclusively for victims, a practice he continues to this day.
